Meet Our Team

/files/Images/Staff Photos/Clemens, Dan.jpgDan Clemens (Lead Pastor) - My family (wife Andrea, son Corey and daughter Avery) and I moved from Canton, OH to Moreno Valley, CA to begin our journey with Discovery in August 2012. We knew the moment we arrived that Discovery would be the place where we could lay down our roots and begin building relationships with those around us. I live by the words of Paul in II Timothy 1:7, "For God did not give us a Spirit of timidity, but a Spirit of power, of love and self-discipline."  I'm excited for the future of Discovery and look forward to the ways we will grow together. Live blessed!

Tony Mosti (Worship & Creative Arts Pastor) -I am proud to join a team of individuals that love what they do for the kingdom of God, and it shows.  I'm elated to have the opportunity to partner with Discovery to help the people in Moreno Valley discover the life God desires for them.  I plan on doing just that through expressive worship times together.  I have been in ministry since 2009 when God got a hold of my life and changed my direction forever.  I have many favorite verses to list, so instead, in true Worship Pastor fashion, I'll use a song lyric instead "I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief.  I raise a hallelujah, my weapon is a melody". - Bethel Music

Donnie Criswell (Pastor of Student Ministries) - My wife, Bekah, and I moved from Elberton, GA to Moreno Valley to join the staff at Discovery in February, 2019.  We are super excited to partner with parents and students to help them to know who Christ is and to build that relationship with Him.  The verse I try to live by is Matthew 28:19-20: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."  I am excited about developing those relationships with the students.

Velma Foreman (Director of Children's Ministry)I was blessed with an opportunity to join the staff in 2009.  I am absolutely excited about helping children build a strong biblical foundation and grow as they study the Bible and connect with God.   I believe it is very important for parents and those with spiritual influence to be purposeful in leading their child’s spiritual life.   Romans 10:17 reminds us “…faith comes from hearing the Good News, and people hear the Good News when someone tells them about Christ.” My vision is that all children hear the gospel and respond to Christ at an early age.

/files/Images/Staff Photos/Leah.jpgLeah Ruby (Director of Nursery Ministry) - My family's first visit to Discovery was in 2004.  When my husband heard the praise music he said, "This is it!" We are learning much about God and what it means to be of service here at Discovery.  I began volunteering in 2005 in the nursery because I just love babies. While I've volunteered for other classes, my heart remains in the nursery and I am excited to be a part of the staff. My vision for the nursery department is to see it grow to include an overall family ministry.  There are so many Bible verses that speak to me, but the ones that speak to me the most include the word "Hope."

Tara Yazloff (Preschool Director) - My husband and I started coming to Discovery when a friend of ours told us about it in 2009.  It was so easy to get connected with other members and involved in the many ministries here.  We have raised our eight children in the church and share a passion for serving with them.  I have the privilege to be part of the children's ministry team to serve as the Preschool Director.  One of my favorite verses comes from Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it."

Lindsay Sweeney (Director of Women's Ministry) - I have attended Discovery Christian Church since I was 3 1/2 years old and have called this my church home for 29 years. My husband Brandon and I have two beautiful children, Liam and Abby-Jo. My passions,  besides my husband and children, include nature, photography and God has placed a new  passion on my heart for the women here at Discovery. I am excited to dive in and see where  God leads the women’s ministry. 1 John 3:18 says, “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech, but with action in truth.” Let us be women whose actions always speak love to others!

Michelle Piazza (Coffee Shop Manager) - It is through faith and prayers that my family has found a home at Discovery Christian Church. I have been a member of Discovery since 2009. The church has provided me opportunities to serve other believers in various ministries. It is because of the love and encouragement of those ministries that my husband and I choose to raise our children up in such a welcoming environment.  I Corinthians 16:14 says: "Let all that you do be done in love." I consider it an honor to be part of the team at Discovery Christian Church and look forward to serving you at our Discovery Café with love.

Patty Cummins (Administrative Assistant) - My husband Brian and I have attended Discovery for over 20 years.  I was blessed with the opportunity to join the staff in July, 2015 as the office Administrative Assistant, and since have become the Director of Encounter Ministry as well.  I have a passion for planning family events that draw people together where they can be encouraged, build relationships and have fun while they serve side by side.  My life verse is Colossians 1:17 "He is before all things, and in Him, all things hold together".

Aloysius Torres (Facilities Supervisor) - My family and I have been attending Discovery since 2015. It feels like our second home. My wife Misty & I enjoy serving together with our two energetic children Jacob & Lily. We immediately felt welcomed and loved on here. We appreciate how authentic and encouraging the leadership is at Discovery. I am very grateful for the guidance and teachings my family and I receive here each week. I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to serve Discovery as Facilities Supervisor.   My life verse is Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
