What toExpect

The moment you arrive on campus, you will be loved on and encouraged to be yourself.  You will find an atmosphere of all types of people who are broken, mending, healed and who come from all styles of life, some wearing shorts and some in suits.  You will be encouraged to worship freely with arms held high or in silent reverence before our God.  You will participate in a time of Communion led by one of our team members.  You will also hear a passionate message that encourages personal change, commitment to growth and a lifestyle of generosity.  Bottom line is, we want you to come as you are and leave changed.  Here at Discovery, we say... Welcome Home!

Discovery's Foundational Beliefs

∼About God:

We believe God as our Heavenly Father, the Godhead for He is the Creator and the Ruler of the universe.  He has eternally existed in three personalities; The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  All three beings are co-equal and are one God.

Genesis 1:1, 26   Genesis 17:1  Exodus 20:1-3  Psalm 90:1, 2

About Jesus:

We believe Jesus is the Son of God, He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for our sins by dying on a cross.  He arose from the grave on the third day expressing His divine authority over all sin.  He ascended to Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God.  By God's command, Jesus will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Isaiah 9:6  Isaiah 53:2-9  John 1:1-5  John 14:6

I Corinthians 15:3, 4  I Timothy 6:13-16  Titus 2:11-14

About the Holy Spirit:

We believe upon the confession of Jesus as Lord, one receives the gift of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is our guide, our comfort, and will provide the Spiritual gifts specifically for our lives.  Through baptism by immersion, the Holy Spirit activates those gifts to be used for the glory of the Kingdom.  We also believe because of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice and resurrection, the Holy Spirit cannot be removed from our life as it was in the Old Testament.

John 14:14-17  John 16:5-15  Acts 1:8  Acts 2:38

I Corinthians 10-14  Galatians 5:25  II Timothy 1:7

About the Bible:

We believe the Bible is the supreme source of Christian truth, beliefs and righteous living.  We acknowledge the Bible as inspired by God, written by human hands and is sufficient for teaching and guiding us in every area of life.

Psalm 12:6  Psalm 119:1-5, 60  Proverbs 30:5  Ephesians 6:17

II Timothy 3:16, 17  James 1:22-24  II Peter 1:20, 21

About Satan:

We believe Satan is a fallen angel who attempted to overpower God and was cast out of Heaven into Hell.  He was the tempter, masquerading as an angel of light in the Garden with Adam and Eve and is daily finding ways to deceive believers from having a deeper relationship with God.

Genesis 3:1, 13  Matthew 4:1  Mark 4:15  II Corinthians 11:14  Ephesians 6:12  Revelation 12:9

About Salvation:

We believe Salvation is God's free gift to us.  We cannot make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works.  Rather, our salvation is received through our acceptance of Jesus as Savior and embracing His unlimited grace, mercy and unconditional love.

John 1:12, 13  Romans 6:23  Galatians 3:26-29  Ephesians 2:4-9

About Eternity:

We believe God created everyone to exist forever in His dwelling place.  To be eternally in union with God is to inherit eternal life in Heaven.  To be eternally separated from God is one's eternal life in Hell.

Matthew 25:31-43, 46  John 3:16  John 5:24  Romans 8:16, 17

I John 5:11, 12  Revelation 20:15  Revelation 22: 12, 13
